Welcome to 3D Vision Gym!!!

Welcome to 3D Vision Gym!!!

We’re excited to share the launch of 3D Vision Gym. Dynamic vision is a big thing - but also a bit confusing at times and online tools can be expensive to access.

A while back I went through vision therapy myself with a focus on improving my own sports performance. I’d been told to “just look at ____” and I thought I was. But with my optometrist I realized my dynamic vision wasn’t “all that” and I spent a bunch of time working on it. I was incredibly pleased and a honestly somewhat surprised by how much it helped. Not in a “my eyesight changed” way (it won’t change your prescription), but in the “my eyes and brain got better at working together” way—tracking, shifting focus, depth, and doing that over and over.

That experience is why I built 3DVisionGym. Sports vision training is basically exercise for your eyes: tracking moving stuff, judging distance, reacting quickly, and getting both eyes cooperating when things get fast. If you’ve ever felt like you were right there but still a beat late, this is one of the levers that might help.

What’s included?

The site is a set up to help you run a series of dynamic vision exercises. Each stands alone - sort of like going to the gym without a personal trainer. You can mix and match what works for you.

It’s also been designed with a performance evaluation that we suggest new users try. It helps you calibrate the level of difficulty that’s appropriate for you - and that feeds into the daily training program that works to balance different exercises with areas you might want to focus attention on.

They’re all pretty short, browser-based drills. Most are designed to work with red/cyan 3D glasses. There’s a link in the help section to one on Amazon I’ve used - but I’ve also tried many others that work great too - from cheap paper ones to slightly less dorky ray-ban looking knockoffs.

The overview guide lays out nine exercises (some don’t even require glasses). Our goal is to make these sorts of exercises available and cost effective. So you can do a few minutes of vision work without “breaking the bank.” I think you’ll find it’s quite a bit less expensive than other equally good options out there. Shouldn’t cost you more than a small fraction of your monthly court time budget - but hopefully will give a large return on your time investment. Though everyone is different.

Don’t choose this over the basics - good coaching and sport-specific practice.

What this is not, and what’s next

One important note before you jump in: this is educationalnot medical advice, and not a medical device—it’s meant to supplement, not replace, a qualified professional.

If you have eye conditions or symptoms, talk to an eye doctor first, and if you feel eye pain, headaches, dizziness, nausea, or lingering double or blurred, then stop immediately.

With that out of the way … you’re curious, start by skimming the Training Guide, signing up, and then just clicking around. When you’re ready to go a bit deeper or want some guidance select the performance evaluation mode and follow along.

Visual training exercises are designed to challenge and develop eye movement skills. They are not medical treatment and do not replace professional eye care. If you have concerns about your vision or eye health, consult a qualified eye care professional.
