It’s always interesting, and a little nerve-racking to see what happens when someone you don’t know finds something you built and really puts it through its paces.

Malachy Kavanagh at Shotgun Life recently did exactly that with 3D Vision Gym.

In “If You Can’t See It, You Can’t Shoot It,” Malachy describes his search for a practical way to train the visual skills that matter in clay shooting, from Brock strings and Hart cards to several digital training platforms. He ultimately spent about two months training with 3D Vision Gym.

A couple of things were especially nice to read: he found the exercises challenging and engaging enough that the training “doesn’t feel like work,” and reported that he believes he is picking up crossing targets faster in his peripheral vision.

Just as importantly, he doesn’t claim vision training is magic. Good shooting still takes technique, coaching and time behind the gun. We couldn’t agree more.

Thanks to Malachy and Shotgun Life for taking 3D Vision Gym seriously enough to take it for a public test drive.
